My IT Journey: From High School to Geek Squad and Beyond 🏫🛠️
Let's rewind to 2014. High school me landed a tech internship as a tech coordinator at a (my former) elementary school, and that’s where this whole tech fascination started. Fast forward a bit, and I found myself at Geek Squad – my first real taste of the IT world. But you know me, always on the move. From there, I jumped ship to state government roles. I found little tech with a lot of politics. Honestly, it wasn’t my cup of tea. Great people, not-so-great work vibes.
The AI Lightbulb Moment: Stable Diffusion & ChatGPT 4 💡🤖
Cut to January 2023, and bam! I fell head over heels for AI. We’re talking stable diffusion, ChatGPT 4, the whole shebang. This was huge for me, especially ‘cause I used to keep my distance from anything AI-related. Coding? Not my strongest suit. My first try at tackling a degree in "Mathematics w/ Computer Science" at Auburn University at Montgomery back in 2015 was a tough ride. But that didn’t stop me. Ended up grabbing a Bachelors in Computer Information Systems in 2019 from THE Alabama State University, still figuring out my IT destiny.
Conquering Python: My Coding Comeback Story 🐍🏆
Here’s where things get spicy. I decided, “Hey, let’s conquer Python.” Ambitious, I know. Enrolled in the Python Institute's PCEP - Certified Entry-Level Python Programmer certification. This looked daunting at first, but I had a secret weapon: ChatGPT. Turned out to be an epic journey of self-teaching. In just two weeks, I went from Python newbie to proudly holding my certification. Felt like nailing that tough side boss in a video game – you know, the optional yet super tough one.
